A Safe Place, Lake County’s sole provider of services exclusively focusing on domestic violence and human trafficking victims, hosted its sixth annual Wine Women & Shoes soiree at Lincolnshire Marriott Resort to raise funds for the organization’s clients and their families.
More than 250 guests, including CEO Pat Davenport and survivor and committee member Dawn Smith, were dressed to the nines and perused the multidesigner marketplace featuring shoes, jewelry and more; sipped wine from six vintners; and participated in a silent and live auction.
A Safe Place’s clients stole the show as they strutted down the runway in dresses of their choice—a testament to A Safe Place’s commitment to honoring the power of choice for survivors—and the community raised a stellar $174,000.
