Of-the-moment artist Nick Cave partners with iconic Windy City brand Eli’s Cheesecake to create the ultimate sweet holiday treat.
The treats arrive in a custom rainbow box designed by Cave and partner Bob Faust.
Nick Cave and Eli’s Cheesecake may not be an obvious collab—he’s a cutting-edge artist whose work addresses issues like racism and homophobia, while Eli’s is the most mainstream of Chicago dessert companies, renowned for serving its signature giant cakes at presidential inaugurations and A-list Chicago events.

But on closer inspection, it’s a genius pairing, as the color and joy that Cave brings to his work is the perfect complement to the sugar rush of an Eli’s treat.
That synergy is on delicious display in the resulting product: two sets of five limited-edition Eli’s Cheesecake Cuties (the brand’s popular 1-by-1-inch chocolate-enrobed cheesecake squares), each presented with a color, flavor and message designed by Cave that express life tenets in a response to Cave’s recent MCA exhibition Forothermore. “I see these tenets as guideposts as well as filters that warm and connect us to each other,” says Cave of the collab, which is presented in a custom rainbow box designed by the artist and partner Bob Faust. Sums up Eli’s Cheesecake President Marc Schulman, “We look at food as a way to unite people. We are honored to partner with Nick Cave, whose work educates, inspires and helps us all imagine a better future.” The collab is now available for preorder; shipping starts Nov. 1. With net proceeds benefiting Cave and Faust’s Facility Foundation, it’s a sweet partnership on several levels.
