This month, nearly 200 esteemed galleries from 29 countries will transform Navy Pier into a global art hub for the 11th iteration of the city’s leading art fair, EXPO CHICAGO.
Berlin-based artist Navot Miller’s work was presented by Braverman Gallery of Tel Aviv at last year’s edition of EXPO.
With almost 50 new exhibitors like Chicago’s Les Enluminures and returning ones such as Hoffman Gallery of West Town, plus programming like panel discussions and conversations with artists, curators and designers, it’s a week packed with world-class culture. This year’s fair marks the first following a recent acquisition by art world giant Frieze. The major move is a welcome one for the city, and especially for president and director Tony Karman. “[It] will allow EXPO to take a big step forward as it’s now part of a larger international network of fairs with a global audience via Frieze’s publication, network of collectors and partners,” the fair’s founder says. “Chicago’s community of galleries, artists, collectors and institutions consistently influences and contributes to the global arts ecosystem. Now, as a part of the Frieze network, I feel strongly that we’ll increase our influence, and in exchange, attract a broader audience to experience our great city each year.” April 11-14, Navy Pier Festival Hall, 600 E. Grand Ave.
