Chicago is well-known for several things. Two that often come to mind are the city’s famous deep-dish style pizza, and the generally “nice” midwestern vibe residents share with one another.
While there’s been plenty of arguments about what type of pizza is the best to enjoy on a cold winter’s night, there’s no doubting Chicago's generosity. Case in point: Jet’s Pizza. Known well for bringing Detroit-style pizza to the Chicagoland area, the chain launched its second-annual winter drive to gather new and like-new clothes for at-risk children and young adults in the city, and you could get a free pizza for participating.

Now through the end of November, Jet's Pizza asks that customers donate scarves, hats, gloves and fresh pairs of socks. Each item collected will be donated to Chicago Youth Programs for youths aged 3 to 25 years old. Those who donate select items will be treated to one small, one-topping pizza free of charge, limited to two per customer.

This isn’t the first time Jet’s has engaged with special deals for charity. Last March, the Chicagoland locations announced a partnership with the Special Olympics of Chicago for a two-day fundraising event, in which 10 percent of all sales marked with a special promo code were given to the organization. That helped bring sports and competition to more than 7,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The pizza joint is also well-known for its deal making. Earlier this June, the chain celebrated Illinois' reopening with a free slice of pepperoni at all Chicagoland locations. Jet’s, which holds 380 independently-owned and operated stores in 19 states, prides itself on being involved in the community, backing independent fundraisers and encouraging their mantra “Better, Because it Has to Be.”

While deep dish pizza may be the Chicago staple, perhaps just for a month, everyone can enjoy a taste of Detroit with midwestern hospitality. It’s almost the holiday season, after all.
