Style is a state of mind and fashion a means of expression, which is all the more important in our rapidly changing world. We check in favorite past NS Women of Style for some words of wisdom.
The biggest change in my life since I was last featured is... I opened Mingle Juice Bar in 2014 with my business partners in Glenview.
My big news is... my three young sons have not gone completely insane during four months of quarantine. I’m so glad they have kept each other entertained.
I never expected that... with three of my physician colleagues, we would organize the White Coats for Black Lives demonstration at Evanston Hospital in June on extremely short notice. It was one of the most poignant moments in my life, to see everyone come together and kneel for George Floyd and all of those before him, to peacefully and powerfully protest against racism.
What I’m most passionate about right now is… taking care of my real family, my work family and, of course, my patients.
In 2020, style is all about... wearing a cool-looking mask, always, when in public. I just bought a clear silicone mask so that my patients can see my facial expressions and read lips if they are hearing-impaired.
My hope for the future is... justice, health and lasting peace from the dual pandemic we are facing. I hope my children carry forward the good and hard lessons that we’ve learned so far from this chaotic and unsettling time.
