When it comes to jewelry, some designers aim for demure, delicate and feather-light. Not Matthew Swope. The New York designer’s pieces are bold, oversize, natural and raw—and his star has never been brighter, says Chicago fashion queen Ikram Goldman. “Personally this is one of my favorite collections,” says the River North boutique owner, who has carried Swope’s line for years. “It’s fun and fun to wear, with one-of-a-kind stones mixed with beads and other elements in necklaces and earrings that can go very casual or very dressy.” Goldman sees the line as a go-to accessory, noting, “If you love wearing all black, this is a stylish way to add a fun feature to the clothes,” adding, “The more you layer, the dressier they get.” It’s no wonder the line is a favorite for Goldman’s clients, and now more than ever. “Something has happened over the past year where we cannot keep it in stock,” she reveals, musing, “I think there’s this need for an element that’s very natural on the body, and this collection speaks to that. It feels so right in the moment.” 15 E. Huron St.
