Ferragamo has been a powerhouse fashion brand for over a century, but even icons can use a refresh every now and then. Enter Maximilian Davis, the 27-year-old Brit who was selected to lead the House of Ferragamo into its next chapter. Based on Davis’ breathtaking new collection, the decision was a stroke of genius, says Chicago style queen Ikram Goldman.
“It feels new, precise and concise—a breath of fresh air,” praises Goldman, whose River North boutique is stocking the line. “Davis is very elegant and has a really fine hand; when I first saw the collection I was blown away by the precision, and the cuts were beautiful. The clothes are hip and modern with an edge, but still classic and 100% Ferragamo.” Versatility is key when it comes to these pieces, adds Goldman. “You could wear these as a great work suit with a beautiful jacket and pant or a classic dress, but he also did these gorgeous dresses that are high-neck, long-sleeved and super-fitted, but with an open back—I welcome that. You can wear a jacket over it during the day, and then at night take the jacket off and suddenly you have a super-sexy look going.”

The verdict? Davis is the real deal. Sums up Goldman, “The newness and the excitement around Max’s debut makes it fun, but they’re also the kind of clothes that if you bought them today they will last a lifetime. I’m super-excited about this new, fresh vision that’s going to be carried on with Ferragamo through the eyes of Maximilian.” 15 E. Huron St.
