Park City’s Montage Deer Valley resort reveals an elegant renovation.
Situated atop the Wasatch Mountain Range in Park City, Utah, the regal Montage Deer Valley is an alpine oasis for the town’s highest rollers—and a recent extensive renovation elevates the A-list escape to grand new heights.
Since its debut in 2010, the 174- room property had not undergone an interior renovation. With a recent tech boom in the nearby Salt Lake City area, as well as an aftershock of residential and hospitality developments popping up in Park City, the timing was perfect. First up on the docket: a guest room and suite refresh by San Francisco’s BraytonHughes Design Studios. The firm re-imagined the rooms with textures, colors, shapes and furnishings that nod to the region’s heritage and natural beauty (think wood with leather strapping, abstract landscape paintings, custom lamps inspired by rock formations and subtle silver moments that pay homage to the area’s mining history). The spa—Utah’s largest at 35,000 square feet—also features a revamped menu, along with on-site Compass Sports’ re-imagined outdoor activity offerings ranging from horseback riding and archery to hot air ballooning and white-water rafting.
Expansive living and dining areas in the presidential suite
Similarly inspired by the region’s striking landscape, the property’s dining destinations also sport a new look thanks to Denton House Design Studio of Salt Lake City. Yama Sushi (offering a new 16-course omakase experience) exudes a tranquil aesthetic inspired by Japan’s majestic summits; high-end eatery Apex blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor via terracotta accents and vintage landscape imagery; and Burgers & Bourbon (home to the Montage’s most scene-y bar) is a dim, inviting haunt characterized by warm hues and walnut-colored wood, all anchored by a crackling fireplace. Another hot spot debuted last year is Slope Stream, a custom alfresco Airstream eatery stationed by an intimate fireside seating area—amplified by Deer Valley Resort’s jaw-dropping setting—where guests can après the day away.

It’s fitting that at nearly 10,000 feet above sea level, Montage Deer Valley is one of the hotels at the highest elevation in the area, and the newness to discover (or rediscover) further cements it as one of Park City’s finest.
