Leaders in medicine, business and government gathered at Hyatt Regency Chicago to support the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois at its 37th annual Gift of Life Gala. The evening began with an intimate cocktail hour, followed by dinner catered by the Hyatt. Guests were encouraged to wear the foundation’s signature hue, orange, to support the cause.
The Illinois Area Chapter of The Links received the 37th annual Gift of Life Award, accepted by Central Area director Monica Allen, for its work in spreading awareness about kidney health and organ donation among the African American community. Mayor of Willowbrook Frank Trilla and family took home the Rosann and Richard Noel Philanthropy Award for their philanthropic contributions. Regina Waldroup of NBC5 Chicago emceed the gala, which was attended by other notables such as Secretary of State Jesse White and director of organ donor programs for the Secretary of State Connie Boatman-Tate.
Waldroup recognized each of the evening’s award recipients, at which point the live auction kicked into gear. The event raised over $200,000 for free screening programs and community health initiatives.
