One of the great holiday traditions in Chicago is the arrival of various Christmas markets. Whether it’s the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza or the various window displays down Michigan Avenue, the holidays bring the best shopping experience in the Windy City with plenty of temporary showcases to celebrate the season.
Case in point: the One of a Kind Show and Sale holiday shopping event. As one of Chicago’s top holiday traditions, it makes a long-awaited return to its home in theMART during the second weekend of December. One of a Kind welcomes artists and artisans from all over the country to share their goods, and allows customers to pick up the perfect unique gift just before the Christmas rush.
"We are so proud to have become a favorite annual memory for so many attendees over the years. We can’t wait to reunite our incredibly talented independent artists and makers with our devoted and supportive attendees,” Lisa Simonian, VP of Marketing for Consumer Shows, said in a statement. 2023 marks the 22nd year of tradition for the One of a Kind market.
The market will run Thursday, Dec. 7 to Sunday, Dec. 10, and will feature plenty of art for gift-giving. Goods include but are not limited to fine art, ceramics, jewelry, children’s products and fashion items, as well as other miscellaneous items such as furniture, bath and body accessories, and pet products.
With more than 500 artists returning to the stalls, customers will have the chance to speak with the original designers of their favorite pieces, and perhaps provide a “behind the scenes insight.”
In addition to the goods offered, the One of a Kind market also offers plenty of fun experiences with cafes, bars, live entertainment and other fun activities for all ages to enjoy. For example? Catch live music from Old Town School of Folk Music, featuring local musicians performing at Center Stage.
Tickets for the holiday experience go on sale Oct. 18. Bring your family, and be sure to bring cash! Visit One of a Kind online for more info.
