Of-the-moment French designer Prune Goldschmidt has crafted the ultimate collection for this season and beyond.

Prune Goldschmidt may be a new name on the fashion scene, but the French designer has serious bona fides, having trained under the legendary Sonia Rykiel. Now, the Bordeaux-based Goldschmidt is fast creating an impact of her own with her eponymous womenswear line—and Chicago style queen Ikram Goldman is a serious fan.

“This collection is super-fun and elegant; she has that Sonia Rykiel feeling,” says Goldman. “It’s a very Parisian wide-leg pant, a beautiful blouse and a great trenchcoat, all with extraordinary details in the cuff s, the collar and the double-breasted belts. She makes a beautiful long daytime dress, and the prints are always exquisite; they’re based on travels that she’s done around the world.” Just as important, says Goldman, is the line’s versatility. “You can wear this day into night; with a different shoe, bag and jewelry, you can dress it up and make it cocktail attire. I see women going to work in these clothes, and I see people wearing them for parties and events. If you’re a really busy person and don’t want to change into a lot of clothes and want to be very sharp from morning to night, this is the collection for you.” 15 E. Huron St.
