The highly anticipated RH Guesthouse New York debuts—offering an intimate and immersive experience into the carefully curated world of RH.
The Dining Room boasts live-fire fare.
The best things come to those who wait. Such is certainly the case with the newly unveiled RH Guesthouse New York.
The Champagne & Caviar Bar
Guests enter the exclusive property through a secure private entrance, which offers a portal into RH’s sublime new world for the lucky few—offering just six guest rooms, three guest suites, and RH Chairman and CEO Gary Friedman’s own private residence. Each of the guest rooms and suites boasts two bathrooms; a freshly stocked gourmet pantry; an in-room gym; and exclusive use of the private rooftop garden, pool and dining terrace with sweeping views of the downtown skyline and the Hudson River
“The RH Guesthouse has been designed through a lens of privacy and luxury,” says Friedman. “Privacy is the one thing everyone has given away on social media, and the one thing the internet has taken away, as you can access anyone online. We believe privacy is going to become a large and important market, and the RH Guesthouse has an opportunity to define that new market with an unseen-before level of design, quality and hospitality.”
Enjoy afternoon lunch on the terrace or recharge on a daybed overlooking the 40-foot mosaic infinity pool.
Like everything Friedman rolls out, the spaces are a flawless study of symmetry and perfect proportions. European oak walls; bathrooms clad in vein-matched Italian travertine slabs; a gourmet pantry packed with charcuterie, crudités, berries and a fresh baguette. Even your daily workout is exquisitely elevated with in-room stainless steel and walnut kettlebells, dumbbells, leather yoga blocks, mats and a Bosu ball. Accessed through a separate public entrance, the 32-seat Guesthouse cellar houses The Champagne & Caviar Bar, where only the highest grades of Petrossian caviar and a curated list of some of the world’s finest Champagnes are on offer, but of course.
The Dining Room and Terrace presents live-fire fare ranging from a wood-grilled Australian wagyu ribeye or whole branzino cooked over Japanese Binchotan charcoal to the house favorite, a wood-grilled avocado with 15 grams of Petrossian Imperial Kaluga caviar.
RH Guesthouse occupies a restored and reimagined triangular loft building constructed in 1887 and is mere steps from the brand’s RH New York Gallery location in the Historic Meatpacking District.
For those who truly want to experience Friedman’s world, his own private residence, which occupies the entire top floor, is sometimes available for booking. The 2,600-square-foot, private penthouse astounds with 11-foot coffered ceilings, boiserie walls, Corinthian columns, herringbone floors and a monolithic Italian travertine fireplace. An eight-seat, handcarved travertine dining table with upholstered Loro Piana cashmere seating and a chef’s kitchen with a stainless steel La Cornue range and meals prepared by a personal chef make entertaining easy—and the makings of one of the most coveted invites in town, no doubt.
