Sophisticated with a dash of swagger—these North Shore trendsetters prove that style is indeed a state of mind.
Emily Hikade
Talk about a woman of influence: Winnetka resident Emily Hikade graduated from the University of Notre Dame and worked at the White House before pursuing a career with the Foreign Service, spending 15 years as a diplomat specializing in counterterrorism in nine different countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Hikade’s newest chapter showcases her softer side—literally. In 2015, the entrepreneur launched luxury sleepwear company Petite Plume, whose posh PJs for the family have been dubbed the best in the biz by the likes of Vogue, The New York Times, Forbes and GQ. Obviously sleep is top of mind for the multitalented Hikade, who speaks English, French, German and Arabic and has trained in both Krav Maga and muay thai kickboxing; here’s what else is on her list of stylish priorities.
